Stanhope Community Fire Station

Stanhope Community Fire Station

Fire Station, Stanhope, Bishop Auckland, DL13 2NE

As part of their Estate Improvement Programme County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service commissioned Napper Architects to develop proposals to refurbish and extend the existing Stanhope Fire Station in Weardale.

The existing fire station is located in a conservation area and was originally completed in 1964. The proposals upgrade the existing operational and training facilities with a new extension providing changing facilities, a fitness gym, and offices. The design was carefully developed to ensure that the development was sympathetic in its form and materials to the existing building onsite and the neighbouring buildings and heritage assets.

The station serves the Weardale area and the upgraded facilities enable the Fire Service to work more effectively with communities to improve safety, and in so doing help to improve the general quality of life for residents and visitors.
