Napper assist DfE in delivery of their School Re-building Programme

Napper Architects recently presented feasibility designs for two new Secondary Schools in Durham and Sunderland at the Bidders Day for contractors on the DFE High Value Contractor Framework (North).

The two schools have been batched together with a total construction value of almost £60 million and will provide state of the art learning spaces for secondary school pupils with the first school in Durham set to be complete by Summer 2016, and Sunderland following a year later.

The projects are just two of the current portfolio of new schools for which Napper Architects are providing the Architectural Technical Advisor role, in partnership with Turner and Townsend, which include three new primary schools in Leeds, two SEN schools in the North East and three large Academies, currently on site.

Over the last few years, Napper Architects have played a major role in assisting the Department of Education in the delivery of their major school re-building programme having completed Feasibility studies for over £150 million of new schools. By working with the DfE and School teams, we have developed costed design solutions in line with the School’s vision and DfE Design standards, including an emphasis on sustainability, targeting Net Zero Carbon for new buildings and improving the biodiversity across the sites.
