Napper Architects were commissioned to design 37 apartments and commercial leisure space within the historic Mowbray Park Hotel. Part of the existing Hotel was retained and refurbished back to its former glory with an additional block of residential accommodation wrapping round the former hotel creating an exciting atrium space.
The proposal for the redevelopment of the Mowbray Park Hotel forms an integral part of the ongoing regeneration of the eastern part of the historic Sunderland City Centre. It is considered that this redevelopment will contribute towards an evolving vibrant daytime and evening economy, juxtaposed with modern city centre living.
