Napper Architects were commissioned by Montagu and North Fenham Football Club to prepare designs for their new clubhouse and sports hall, with a multi-use external all-weather pitch and continued access to the existing grassed pitch to the south.
The proposals provide indoor training and outdoor pitches and training facilities, with associated changing and ancillary storage provision. The clubhouse is designed to be flexible and to cater for community use and social gatherings and will include dedicated parking.
The building is single storey and consists of three distinct elements: the sports hall; the changing/ancillary accommodation; and the social space. The sports hall conforms to the minimum space requirements for 3 badminton courts and can also be used for 5-a-side, basketball and tennis. The changing/ancillary accommodation is a simple linear block along side the hall. The social space has direct access to the main entrance (for separate use) with full height glazing providing access to an external area and views of the outdoor pitches.
