Crook Community Fire Station has been designed with the community in mind. The safety of local communities and the prevention of emergency incidents are of prime importance to the Fire Authority.
Crook fire station was completed in 2015 as part of the £16 million CDDFRS estates management programme. The accommodation provides facilities for community interaction and engagement, while providing a state of the art emergency response service.
The station is a “retained“ service building with part time fire crew staffing. In order to maximise the use of the building the client has consulted with a number of user groups in order that the community aspect of the building is used to its full potential. Specialist access controls have been incorporated into the design in order that this can be achieved without compromising the operational nature of the building.
The shared use of well located, carefully designed accommodation that is functional, flexible, and accessible to different local groups and partner organisations, enables the Authority to work more effectively with communities to improve safety, and in so doing helps to improve the general quality of life for local people. These modern facilities help to sustain relationships and provide the springboard for greater involvement and integration of the fire service into the local communities they serve.
