Bridgewater Community Primary School Newcastle
The new facilities at Bridgewater Primary School provides a new 150 place integrated provision for early years, childcare and primary education that brings together three separate facilities to one site.
As a significant community project, the design developed through a steering committee including the head teacher, teachers, parents and governors from each facility together with the LEA, Surestart and a separate education advisor.
The scheme addressed fundamental existing problems of site access, approach, public face and school identity. With extensive views over the Tyne Valley below, the new accommodation provides a stimulating and safe environment in which to learn, teach and play as well as providing a landmark for the wider community.
