Planning Approval for County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue HQ
We are delighted to have obtained planning approval for the new office headquarters for County Durham & Darlington Fire & Rescue Service. The accommodation also incorporates a new base for the North East Ambulance Service. The new building is located adjacent to Durham Community Fire Station (completed in 2015) and the Teesdale & Weardale Search & Mountain Rescue Centre (completed in 2016), both designed by Napper Architects, to create a hub for the emergency services in Durham which embodies a more holistic approach to protecting the public, supporting a broader strategic commitment between the services and encouraging interaction with the public in finding community safety solutions.
The new HQ is designed to Passivhaus standards and incorporates high levels of insulation, high performance glazing, airtight construction, mechanical ventilation with heat recovery and on-site energy regeneration.
