Conservation work completed for The Auckland Project

Napper Architects have complete a series of conservation projects for The Auckland Project. Work has included sensitive repair of the external fabric and internal refurbishment and alterations to twelve grade I, II* and II listed buildings predominantly located around the Market Place in the County Durham town of Bishop Auckland. The projects were led by RIBA Specialist Conservation Architect Graeme Dodd who liaised with planning and conservation officers, completed heritage statements and statements of significance, submitted planning and listed building applications and prepared proposals for the historic buildings.

The Auckland Project is a regeneration charity founded in 2012 by Jonathan and Jane Ruffer focused on transforming Bishop Auckland into a major cultural destination through its attractions, heritage, and community engagement. It is working to revitalise Bishop Auckland by using its rich history, art, and culture to greatest effect to create a vibrant future for the town and its residents.
