Napper Architects complete refurbishment works at Wheatley Hill Fire Station as part of ongoing decarbonisation programme for the Fire Service

Building work at Wheatley Hill Fire Station is now complete. The refurbishment works have centred around reducing the Fire Service’s carbon footprint for the building as well as vastly improving the facilities onsite.

The works have included significantly upgrading the thermal fabric of the building with generous amounts of insulation now limiting heat loss and high performing triple glazed windows further reducing energy loss. An airtight regime has been implemented working hand in hand with the Mechanical Ventilation Heat Recovery system making further energy efficiencies

Heating is via an Air Source Heat Pump with direct energy generated onsite through a photovoltaic array. The EPC rating has been improved to an A-rating.

The improved facilities include new training facilities, an administration office space, a gym and improved welfare facilities.
