Tynedale Rugby Football Clubs New Clubhouse sets sail
05 May 2017
Following a series of devastating Floods in the Tyne Valley, Tynedale RFC set about creating an exemplar building project within the Green Belt and Flood Plain to replace the existing facilities.
In response to the site the decision was taken to raise the building on columns and to sit the new facility immediately above the existing building. This resulted in no loss of the flood plain capacity and had the full support of the Environment Agency. The innovative column arrangement allows the new building to be constructed over the top of the existing without impacting on the building use below.
The striking design will be a magnet for sports excellence and will see TRFC continue its successful journey of supporting sports development in the region for future generations to come.
Inclusive design is a key component of the new building with a sweeping series of ramps and processional steps leading up to the front of the building providing access for all.
Graeme Dodd, Director of Napper Architects said, 'Napper Architects are delighted to continue their long-standing relationship with the club and look forward to the facility being realised.'
Neil Foster Chief Executive TRFC, 'This beautiful design will ensure that first class facilities are maintained for future generations and will be the catalyst for sports excellence in the Tyne Valley.'
