Top honours for Seaham Harbour redevelopment
09 October 2013
The redevelopment of the coastal marina at Seaham Harbour has taken top honours at the prestigious County Durham Environment Awards ceremony. The multi-million pound regeneration of Seaham Harbour Marina included the creation of new waterfront retail units, new dock gates, floating pontoons and North Terrace entrance and restoration of the once-derelict lifeboat centre.
Mark Dowdall, from Banks Group who is a member of the judging panel, described the winning projects as "inspirational". "The development of Seaham Harbour Marina has integrated modern sustainable facilities into the existing historic features of the harbour to create a new commercial and leisure environment."
Graeme Dodd stated that "Napper Architects were delighted with the award which recognises the hard work by the wide number of individuals from the community support groups, the Dock Company and Durham County Councils Regeneration Team."
